When you’re in the workplace what is the appropriate way to communicate with employees and employers? The answer can vary in each situation depending on what it is you have to communicate and how urgent it is. It also depends on the sensitivity of the subject and the number of how many people you have to inform.
The three main ways we communicate with people in the work place is in person, through email, and on the phone. However, one of the most important things is to know in each situation what is the appropriate form of communication to use. For example, over the past decade emailing has become the main way to communicate in the workplace. It is when you want to send a message short enough to type out. It is also mostly used for when you want to send the same message to multiple people. Calling on the phone can be for when you want to be a little bit more formal and for a message that might be a little too long to type out in an email. A phone call can also be used for when you need a clear quick answer instantly without having to wait for a message back. Finally, talking in person is the most formal way to convey information to someone and it is used for things that carry more of an importance or a sensitive manner. Remember when communicating with someone in the workplace they are busy so it is best to try to get to the point, give details, and explain clearly what it is that you are trying to tell them. It is also important to check your grimmer and spelling when writing emails or letters. This will definitely let the person know that you are professional and educated.
In the workplace the way you communicate is constantly growing due to technology. For example, video conferencing, video interviews, instant messaging and social media. However, talking in person, through email and on the phone are not going anywhere any time soon. The reason is because these forms of communication are professional and appropriate in the workplace. They are also essential for successful business operations.
